Alan Moore’s journey in the Gqeberha property industry started 20 years ago when he stumbled upon his passion while selling his house in Cape Town.
He moved back to his city of birth where he qualified as an estate agent. His conveyancer wife Joanne proved to be the perfect foil.
Moore’s path to the pinnacle of his profession started rather underwhelmingly. He quickly learnt that a qualification did not automatically guarantee success.
The latter would be the result of passion, the swallowing of pride, working harder than those around him and failing every so often. Learning from his mentors also proved instrumental.
Fortunately, Moore was a fast learner and became Remax’s Rookie of the Year and then Agent of the Year in Gqeberha.
He enjoyed national recognition when he became a member of Remax South Africa’s Millionaires Club – an accolade that he has earned on multiple occasions.
While experience was crucial, Moore found that honesty – with himself and his clients – was the only way to start a client-agent relationship.
Telling a client what he knew they wanted to hear would only lead to unfulfilled expectations and an iffy reputation.
The truth was that the right – not the desired – valuation for the prevailing market conditions always guaranteed the best deal.
And that was how he unlocked the trust of several generations of homeowners in Gqeberha.
